Announcing the 2023 BITTERSWEET BEAT-BACK April 15, 2023

The Farmington Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited is again planning an April project to cut Oriental Bittersweet vines attached to trees along the Farmington River .  Volunteers will spend 2 to 3 hours outdoors working along a section of the river to cut vines.  The objective is to eliminate vine foliage which can weigh heavily on treetops and obstruct healthy tree growth.  Doing so also prevents the vine from producing the pernicious orange seeds so attractive to the birds.

Saturday, April 15th 9:00AM to 12:00PM.  Please check Facebook (Farmington Valley Trout Unlimited) or Instagram (fvtu_129) in case of weather uncertainty.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the parking lot on Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the parking area on Puddletown Road (Farmington River Turnpike) in New Hartford, just upstream of Frey Road and across the river from the Satan’s Kingdom parking lot.
